Healthwin COVID-19 Update:

Dear Family Member,

Coronavirus (COVID-19) poses a serious threat to older adults (especially 60 years old and older) and those with underlying health conditions.  The federal government has mandated we restrict visitors at this time.  Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis for end-of-life visits.  We understand this is very difficult, but the safety and wellbeing of your loved one is our top priority.

We want to make sure you are aware that communication with your loved one is something we will continue to encourage.  If you would like to video chat with your loved one please call our main line at (574) 272-0100 and request the Activity Department at Ext. 204.  Activities can schedule a time to either utilize Facetime (for Apple phone users) or Zoom (for Android or Desktop users).  We must keep these video visits to 10 minutes so we can maintain a schedule with others.

With the daily changes with COVID-19 we must follow what CMS and Indiana State Department of Health asks of us.  We receive daily updates at 10 am each day at www.Coronavirus.in.gov at the top of the page you will find the recent updates.

We are looking into different options to give all families updates as often as possible.  Currently if you follow Healthwin on Facebook we give updates throughout the week.  We are also trying to make sure all of our contact information is up to date especially by email.  If you can please email information@healthwin.org with your name and email address we would appreciate it to update in our current records.  We are hoping to be able to utilize emails as well for updates for those that do not utilize Facebook.

Again, we know this is difficult, but the virus is very contagious and social distancing is important at this time and we appreciate everyone’s understand and cooperation.

Visitation

The front entrance to Healthwin is locked. All staff, vendors, deliveries (including mail), and any ESSENTIAL contracted employee must enter through the East Entrance (employee/ambulance entrance) off of Laurel. All employees are to go to the screening desk prior to clocking in.

Residents are NOT allowed to leave the building for anything other than essential medical appointments.

Visitation has been restricted per CDC/CMS recommendations. Visitation may be approved for residents who are actively dying. 2 visitors are allowed at a time and can rotate out.

Screening/Monitoring

Residents: Respiratory symptoms and temperatures are to be documented every shift. Policy and Procedure to be followed accordingly.

Employees: Employees are questioned and temperatures documented at beginning of their shift. Any employee with a temperature >99.0 are to leave the building. Employees are advised to stay home if they are experiencing respiratory symptoms or are febrile.

Contracted Medical Providers: Contracted Medical Services (i.e. psyche services, ancillary physicians, medical transport, etc) are continuing as scheduled at this time. All medical personal are screened the same as employees.

Hospice: Hospice NURSES will be allowed to complete required assessments, re-certifications, intakes, and end of life support. Nurses will be screened as employees.

Please check updates on www.cms.gov, www.cdc.gov, and www.isdh.in.gov regularly. Also remember that when you are going out in public you are not only putting yourself/family at risk, but the entire building. We will continue to update accordingly.
